Light Interactions

with low-dimensional systems

FROM RESEARCH TO INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

MAGGIO 2025

Messina, Italia

THE WORKSHOP

On the occasion of the "International Day of Light", on May 20th, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Accademia dei Pericolanti at Palazzo Università - Piazza S. Pugliatti 1 - Messina, the workshop "Light interactions with low-dimensional systems: from research to industrial applications" will take place.

The interaction of light with low-dimensional systems, particularly 2D layers, 1D wires, and 0D qdots, represents a frontier topic in physics that promises significant technological implications and very promising applications. The interaction of light with these systems paves the way for advancements in a myriad of fields, ranging from quantum computing and ultra-efficient solar cells to new medical imaging techniques and next-generation electronic devices.

The proposed presentations will aim to describe the complex interactions present in low-dimensional systems in an accessible yet informative and up-to-date manner. The speakers will represent both the research world and the commercial development and application, in order to narrate the journey of research from the laboratory to real-world scenarios.

A poster session is planned in which those interested can present their research activities and/or a scientific essay related to the theme of light and the topics of the workshop (please visit the “Call of Abstract” page for info). Depending on the quality of the contributions, they are likely to be published as proceedings of the “Accademia dei Pericolanti”.

Registration is mandatory for all those who will attend the workshop.

Target Audience
